TournaQ is a local-first app — your game data stays on your device. We do not operate user accounts, and no app
data is transmitted to our servers. This policy explains how we handle the limited information that is processed
when you use the app.
📦 Data We Collect and Process
App data (local storage only):
- Game scores and match results
- Team and player names you enter
- Tournament structures you create
This data is stored exclusively on your device using local on-device storage (Hive). It is never transmitted to
us or any third party. We do not have access to this locally stored data.
Advertising data (via Google AdMob):
TournaQ displays non-personalized advertisements through Google AdMob. Google may process certain technical and device-related information required for ad delivery and fraud prevention in accordance with Google's own privacy policies. Every ad request is explicitly tagged as non-personalized; we do not serve personalized advertising.
📷 Device Permissions
Camera: TournaQ requests camera access solely to scan QR codes (e.g. to join or set up tournaments). Camera images are processed on your device in real time and are never stored or transmitted to us or any third party.
Files: When you import or export tournament data as an Excel file, TournaQ accesses only the specific file you choose via your device's system file picker. This data is processed locally on your device and is never transmitted to us or any third party.
⚖️ Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): For advertising-related data processing by Google AdMob, where consent is requested via the in-app UMP consent dialog.
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): For the local storage of app data necessary to provide core app functionality (score tracking, tournament management).
You may withdraw your advertising consent at any time via Contact & About → Privacy Options in the app.
🤝 Third-Party Services
Google AdMob / Google LLC
We use Google AdMob to display non-personalized advertisements. Google acts as an independent data controller for data it processes. Google LLC participates in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
No other third-party services are used. External links in the app (e.g. Instagram, the beta sign-up form) lead to services with their own independent privacy policies.
🌍 International Data Transfers
The app data you enter is stored locally on your device and never transferred internationally by us.
Google AdMob may transfer advertising-related data to servers in the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which provides an adequate level of data protection as recognised by the European Commission.
⏱️ Data Retention
- Local app data: Retained on your device until you delete it via app settings or uninstall the app. We have no control over or access to this data.
- Advertising data: Retained by Google according to Google's retention policies.

As a data subject in the European Economic Area, you have the following rights:

For local app data, you can exercise most of these rights directly by deleting data within the app or uninstalling it. For advertising data processed by Google, contact Google directly or adjust your device's advertising settings.

🔔 Right to Lodge a Complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. You may do so in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or where the alleged infringement occurred.

👶 Children's Privacy
TournaQ is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has been affected, please contact us at team@tournaq.com.
