A two-phase format common in beach volleyball tournaments. Teams are divided into groups for round-robin pool play, with the top teams from each group advancing to a single-elimination knockout bracket. TournaQ manages both phases — from the initial group draw through to the knockout final.

How it works

The organiser defines the number of groups, teams per group, and how many teams advance. TournaQ generates the group schedules and tracks standings within each group. Once the group phase is complete, the knockout bracket is seeded automatically based on group results. Match-ups are then played to a single-elimination conclusion.

Setup options

  • Number of groups and teams per group
  • Advancement spots: configurable per group
  • Group seeding: random draw, manual, or ranked placement
  • Knockout bracket seeding: by group position or cross-group ranking
  • Match format: independently configurable for group and knockout phases

Best for

  • Day-long tournaments with large draws
  • Events where every team gets meaningful matches before knockouts
  • Formats where a pool phase helps seed the bracket fairly
  • Standard beach volleyball tournament structure
